Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra, who has been calling for an increase in people-to-people contact and a "soft" link with the local population on the islands, has advocated cooperation on this matter as a way to break down barriers with the islanders.
Macri introduced a delicate issue onto the agenda as a move to strengthen Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra's candidacy for the post of secretary-general of the United Nations, trying to show that his administration was completely blended with the Western world and that community while complying with its tradition of a nation that is ready to receive migrants with arms wide open.
The low-key tone of this agreement may well have been prompted by an accident-prone September — the agreement between Duncan and Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra (then still in pursuit of the top job at the United Nations) accompanying the Business and Investment Forum here, which ran into local flak, and Macri's extraordinary gaffe at the UN General Assembly when he claimed to have coaxed Malvinas sovereignty talks out of the new British Prime Minister Theresa May during a five-minute encounter in a corridor.
NOTA PUBLICADA EL DÍA VIERNES 09-11. “We’ll have to adapt and we will do so with institutional responsibility,” said Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra on the day after the election, promising to renew contacts with the former reality TV star-cum-president-elect. But she expressed, at the same time, her disappointment “not to see a woman so qualified be chosen for this important responsibility.”
NOTA PUBLICADA EL DÍA VIERNES 09-11. Shortly before he was sworn-in as president, Mauricio Macri and his newly chosen foreign minister-designate Susana Malcorra visited Brasilia and Santiago, in order to build political bridges. That flurry of activity would set the tone for a turbulent year in Latin America that included the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff and the worsening of relations between Caracas and its Mercosur partners over Venezuela’s place in the regional body and its domestic crisis.
NOTA PUBLICADA EL DÍA VIERNES 09-11. Sources from the Pink House told the Herald that the president, Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra and Chief Cabinet Marcos Peña have all made it clear to Jujuy’s governor Gerardo Morales — a UCR ally in Let’s Change — that the situation surrounding Sala is becoming increasingly difficult for the national government. Those comments, however, have been delivered in private, because Macri and his officials openly stand by Morales, a key leader from the north who was decisive for Let’s Change’s win in 2015. He may also be key next year.

The intervention of the leader of the OAS, which is one of the most influential intercontinental organisations in the Western Hemisphere, piled further pressure on President Mauricio Macri's administration. With the government starting to realise that the verdict of the UN Working Group in October is turning into a chorus, Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra reportedly called Almagro to complain about the letter a day after its publication.

The Pink House said that Trump told Macri that the two countries will have their “closest relationship” in history. Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra, who reportedly helped coordinate the call, said that the most important element of the conversation was the “reconfirmation and re-establishment of the personal relationship that they had many years ago” when the two politicians crossed paths through business dealings. Malcorra added that technical-level meetings should take place as soon as possible.
